PEPT ruling: APGA to youths: Don’t give up; band together to seize control of Nigeria.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has urged youths to keep hope alive and should not be discouraged by the recent ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, PEPT, affirming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election.
It charged the youths to continue to be united, focused, and peaceful and to not give up on the fight to take over the leadership of the country.
The party made this known through a statement signed by the National Youth Leader, Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu, and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State.
Eze, also the spokesperson of the National Youth Leaders Forum of Political Parties in Nigeria, NYLFPPN, tasked political leaders in the country to shun taking the youths for granted.
The statement reads in part: “The young people rejected bribery, thuggery, and threats to stand up for what they wanted for their country against religion, region, and tribe. We have shown that we can be united and must not destroy this unity already achieved on the altar of disappointment and anger.”
He urged the youths to get actively involved in political parties and join in making decisions that will see the emergence of a young person in the next general election in the country.
“If we didn’t succeed in the end, we mustn’t give up on the fight to return the leadership of our country to the young people who were the heroes of the fight for independence. It’s time to make them aware of the importance of handing over leadership to young people. It’s not time to give up, but time to fight on.
“There is a youth wave already in place in every nook and cranny of the country as a result of the fight we put up in the past 2023 general elections. Youths are coming together irrespective of their party, religious, or tribal affiliations. It’s no longer business as usual. Leaders no longer take the youth for granted. They now consider the youth factor in everything they do, think, or plan, including campaigns and winning elections.
“It’s time to take up the leadership and membership of political parties and join in taking decisions that will see to the emergence of young and vibrant candidates first before elections,” Eze stressed.
