2face, D’banj, P-Square – Who Was The Biggest Artiste Of Their Era?

Published

on

About 15 years ago, the competition that occurred in the Nigerian music industry was not overly limited to certain people unlike it is now.

During that era, there were a number of artistes who were very big and created keen competition for each other. We had the likes of 2face, D’banj, P-square, 9ice, Darey, Olu Maintain and a few more.

However, of all these artistes, there were three who stood out as ultimately the biggest of that era. 2face, D’banj & P-square were certainly the commandants of the Nigerian music industry.

Although they were all very big, people still argue a lot when they are obliged to narrow down to one the biggest artiste of that era. This makes a lot of people say 2face was biggest of all, some say it was D’banj while others say it definitely was P-square who was biggest.

This therefore has in some way caused an argument over here too, and in a way to help us put the argument to rest and have your opinion on the topic as well, we would like to know who you think was biggest.

2face Idibia Admonishes Nigerians To Embrace Peace As He Celebrates 43rd Birthday

Published

on

Legendary singer, 2face Idibia has addressed the whole country, advicing all Nigerians to unite and embrace peace for the progress of the country.

2baba who is celebrating his birthday today took to his Instagram page to adminish Nigerians in a lengthy write-up. He wrote; “As I celebrate my birthday today, I call for peace across our dear country, Nigeria. Different forms of violence including electoral, banditry, herders and farmers conflicts, kidnapping and terrorism have and continue to snatch the lives of Nigeria’s citizens. Let’s be clear, this is not a salvo to attack the government, I am not a politician but an artist and social rights crusader.

“I am calling on government (i.e our political leadership, security services etc.); and all citizens (i.e artists, entrepreneurs, media okada riders etc.) to do everything we can and must do to promote and guarantee peace.
On my part, I have dedicated myself to mobilizing Nigerian youth and engaging political, security and traditional authorities to promote peaceful elections since 2014. I have worked with talented youth across Nigeria to reach 62 million people with the message of“elections without violence” as the Ambassador of the Vote Not Fight: Election No Be War campaign.

“I will be leading the campaign’s efforts to promote peace during the November 16, 2019 governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States. As Nigerians, we must join hands together to resist violence across our country, in whatever nature in manifests. Government must however take the lead on this, as there are limits to what citizens can do – no matter how well intentioned. As the November 16, 2019 Kogi and Bayelsa governorship elections approach, we must remember that the legitimacy of any government lies with its emergence from a peaceful, free, fair and credible election.

“I call on Kogi and Bayelsa youth to say NO to politicians who may offer them money to perpetrate violence or buy their votes. Let your conscience lead you. In relation to all forms of violence across Nigeria – we need to remember that there can be no development without peace. We need to make the wise choice for the future as violence erodes our values and kills our people. We must also look out for the vices of hate speech, fake news, misinformation and disinformation which are certified triggers of violence.
One love my people, thank you for all the support over these years.”

2face’s and P-square are a member of the league of the very few in the Nigerian music industry who have awesome albums that became instant hits.

Their albums were great quality in terms of the songs on them and they did hugely commercially too as they sold millions of copies nationwide and in other countries outside of Nigeria.

However, as it is time for our “Versus Throwback,” we will be picking one each from these superstar-veteran singer’s album store, leaving you to judge which the better album is.

From 2face’s album store, we have picked his debut solo album; “Face 2 Face” which is an 11-track album that houses hits such as “African Queen,” “Ole,” “Right Here” and a lot more. Infact, all songs on the album were hits and the project sold over 2 million copies. This is Arguably 2face’s greatest album.

On the other hand, we have picked P-square’s sophomore album, “Get Squared” to square up against 2face’s “Face 2 Face.” P-square’s “Get Squared” was released in 2005 and it sold over 5 million copies nationwide. The 13-track album houses also a lot of hit songs such as “Omoge Mi,” “Temptation,” “Bizzi Body,” “Say Your Love” and a few others. It is a classic.
